About the MSSA Awards

Voting is conducted by members of the Manitoba sports media.

Red River College MSSA Media Roll of Honour

The award, sponsored by Red River College, is presented annually to someone working in sports media in Manitoba who has distinguished themself in their field.

MSSA Jack Matheson Memorial Award

Handed out to post-secondary students looking to pursue a career in sports journalism or public relations.

Cactus Jack Wells Memorial Impact Award

The award is handed out annually in honour of the event with the biggest impact on the provincial sporting scene.

MSSA Dallis Beck Good Guy/Good Gal Award

The award honours exceptional support to the sports media.

Ron Meyers Memorial Award

In recognition of Ron’s outstanding support and leadership to the game of basketball in the province, the Manitoba Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association in partnership with the Manitoba Basketball Coaches Association is proud to recognize one outstanding male and one outstanding female Grade 12 student who best meets the standards Ron Meyers set as a leader in the community. The MSSA will be recognizing this achievement with a $500.00 scholarship to each of the two recipients to be used towards a recognized post secondary institution the following year. All grade 12 basketball players in the province are welcome to apply including from the A, AA, AAA and AAAA levels.

Female Athlete of the Year Award

The award is presented annually to province's top female athlete.

Male Athlete of the Year Award

The award is presented annually to province's top female athlete.

Maurice Smith Memorial Team of the Year Award

The award is presented annually to province's top team.
